MamaCitas Bloom in the Sonoran Desert - Totem Ceramics Class
As we mold and shape the earthy material, each sculpture telling a story inspired by the stunning landscapes around us.
The MamaCita community had the incredible opportunity to unleash their inner artists with a two-day clay totem masterclass led by the esteemed Mussette. This unique experience allowed our talented mothers to tap into their creativity and craft one-of-a-kind totems inspired by the beauty of our desert surroundings.
Each MamaCita was provided with a toolkit of five clay pieces – a captivating blend of cylinders and spheres – ready to be transformed into artistic expressions. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant desert landscape, our mothers skillfully sculpted cacti, majestic saguaros, and iconic barrel cacti, bringing their individual visions to life.
There is such a healing effect when we work with our hands!
The two-day workshop was a whirlwind of creativity and camaraderie. Under Mussette's expert guidance, our MamaCitas explored various techniques, experimented with textures, and discovered the joy of artistic expression. Laughter filled the studio as our mothers shared ideas, offered support, and celebrated each other's unique creations.
We just learned that art can trigger the release of endorphins, a natural chemical and mood booster. Completing a project can provide a sense of accomplishment and boost self-esteem!
The result? A collection of stunning clay totems, each a testament to the talent and imagination of our MamaCitas. These beautiful creations not only reflect the beauty of our desert environment but also serve as a reminder of the power of creativity and the importance of self-expression.
